An invitation to visitors to create art from trash and recycled materials such as artboards, promoting conversations about the amount of personal waste accumulated each day and what can be done to protect the environment. Creating and sharing knowledge at the same time, visitors will be able to bring their creations home.

Examining gender roles in our patriarchal society, Ila references sewing and embroidery that is perceived as a feminine activity and juxtaposes it against the body in a violent manner. Sewing Malay phrases into her palms, she confronts the audience about notions of identity and stereotypes.

This work explores our relationship with local food and our desires for the perfect looks, lifestyles and standards. Food is photographed in ways that emphasize perfection in a cold and unsettling manner – surgical, futuristic and meticulously arranged. Each photo shows a local dish that is distorted, with the original food items alongside their mutated versions.
